With it's ideal location, stretching along the south shore of Lake Simcoe, the various communities of Georgina are host to many events that are a draw to this tourist orientated town. In the winter there is always snowmobiling, ice fishing and of course the Canadian Ice Fishing Championship. In the summer there's boating and angling along with The Blue Bridge Festival The Eaglewood Folk Festival, the Georgina Studio Tour and of course the Purple Turtle Art Festival

When the Funky Little Purple Turtles start 'springing' up along the roadsides and highways, it's a sure sign the popular arts festival isn't far behind.

An alternative to a conventional "gallery" art show, the Purple Turtle is an outdoor showcase presenting the work of established artists and craftspeople in a unique setting. Informative and fun, it is an excellent opportunity to find an original work of art and meet the artist. Look for the familiar white tents and be prepared to attend since the show takes place rain or shine.

Mark the dates in your calendar now so you won't forget this opportunity to see some outstanding paintings, sculpture, glass works, native art, photography, quilting jewellery and woodworking.

View the works of many local Artist and Artisans, as well as others from around Ontario, as you stroll around the lush meadows of the Briars Resort.

Take time to enjoy delicious food prepared on site by the Briars' Chefs. perhaps you may have time to take in a matinee or evening show at the Red Barn Theatre.
