With it's ideal location, stretching along the south shore of Lake Simcoe, the various communities of Georgina are host to many events that are a draw to this tourist orientated town. In the winter there is always snowmobiling, ice fishing and of course the Canadian Ice Fishing Championship. In the summer there's boating and angling along with The Blue Bridge Festival The Eaglewood Folk Festival, the Georgina Studio Tour and of course the Purple Turtle Art Festival

Highland of Durham Games

July 18, 2007 This Celtic Celebration begins with the Tartan Classic Charity Golf Tournament held at the Oakridge Golf Course.

July 20, 21 and 22, Events include plenty of great musical entertainment, Celtic livestock demonstrations and displays, and highland and folk dancing competitions. For full information and a daily schedules click here This years show features the Rankin Sisters for 2 shows one on July 21 at 7 pm and one on July 22nd at 4 pm

 

You can explore Celtic traditions through games, music and story telling in the Young People’s Celtic Pavilion and visit the Avenue of the Clans.
 

What Highland Games wouldn’t be complete without good food and good drink and the opportunity to enjoy a wee taste of Scotland.
 

The closing ceremonies with the “Burning of the Viking Ship” will bring a sense of kinship with all that is Celtic.

July 14th 2007 promises to be another great day for the Gardner in you. Uxbridge Community care is having its 11th annual Gardens of Uxbridge fundraising event. A self guided tour of selected Uxbridge gardens. The proceeds benefit Community Care Durham - Uxbridge Tickets are available at Blue Heron Books, Presents ,Presents or on the day of the tour. UXBRIDGE TOUR OF HOMES, SATURDAY, JUNE 2, 2007, 12-5pm

This annual event gives you the opportunity to walk through local homes with outstanding features - it is like walking into the pages of your favourite home decor and design magazine! 

You should plan on spending a delightful Saturday afternoon wandering through the homes at your own pace and in whatever order you fancy.  Keep your ticket handy as it contains the map, plus you must show it before entering each home. 

Plan to stop at Trinity United Church for complimentary refreshments.  A tea room will be set up in the Fellowship Hall on the lower level (follow signs). 

The Tour takes place on Saturday, June 2nd 2007 and tickets are available at Green Goose Gallery and Shopper's Drug Mart in Uxbridge along with Henshall's in Port Perry. 

The $15 Tickets May also be purchased on June 2nd at Trinity United Church or at any of the Tour homes. 

Please bring clean slippers to wear while touring each home (and consider which shoes you wear - you will be taking them off and putting them on all afternoon!).
